    Santa's diary:

Yes, Santa is awake for most of the day. He wakes up and has breakfast at six o'clock, North Pole time. He stays busy until ten at night, when everyone in the village goes to bed. You can check right now on our live map.

Santa's day runs on the North Pole clock, which is the same as UTC. The live map shows the times in your own time zone too, so you do not need to do any sums. Look under the map for the "Happening right now" lines, and for the "Next" line to see when the next thing happens.

Between six in the morning and ten at night, Santa does lots of things. At eight he checks on the elves. At twelve he feeds the reindeer. At one he practises his sleigh by the frozen lake. At five he reads the letters at the mailbox, and at seven he warms up by the fire pit.

After ten at night, Santa and the village are asleep. The lights are low, the reindeer are resting and the village is quiet. If you check after bedtime, you will see a calm village. Santa wakes up again at six, so you can look again in the morning.

Santa has a busy season from 1 September to 25 December, when he is getting ready for Christmas. The rest of the year he is on his summer break. Christmas Eve is a special night, and the timetable changes for one visit, which you can watch on the map.

Children often ask what happens if Santa is still awake when they go to bed. The village has its own timetable, so you can check the map before you sleep. If you look at ten o'clock, everyone is getting ready for bed. If you look at nine, Santa is probably warming up by the fire pit. The map shows the time in your own time zone, so you always know what time it is for Santa.
