Gingerbread House

Drag on a wall to pipe icing

How to build your gingerbread house

Every gingerbread house starts with the baking. Choose your house with the House button: a snug cottage, a tall thin town house or a long wide one. Then pick a roof. Icing snow is soft and white with drips hanging over the edge, candy tiles are pink, mint and lemon like little fish scales, and chocolate is made of shiny squares.

Now for the fun part. Choose Icing, pick a colour, then put your finger on a wall and drag to pipe a line, just like squeezing an icing bag. Make zigzags, swirls, dots or your initial. Choose Gumdrops, Candy canes, Peppermints or Jelly beans and tap anywhere on the walls, the roof or the snowy board to stick one on. Keep your finger down and slide to move it to just the right spot. Candy canes on the board stand up tall, like lamp posts on the path.

Every house needs a way in. Choose Door and tap a wall, then add a few windows. They glow with warm candle-light, so the house looks cosy inside. Press String lights to hang twinkly bulbs round the roof. Drag beside the house to turn it round and decorate the back too. If you want a head start, press Build for me.

When it is finished, type your first name and press Put it on the village square. Your house will sit on the square in Santa’s village for an hour with your name beside it. Only you can see it, on this device. Press Share to save a picture of your house, or send it to family with a grown-up’s help.
