Light a Lantern

Light a lantern on the path to Santa’s house

At the North Pole the sun sets in late September and does not rise again until March. For all those months it is the polar night: the stars stay out all day, the northern lights dance across the sky, and the elves light lanterns along the snowy path to Santa’s front door so that everyone can find their way.

You can add one too. Write your first name on the little tag, then tap the wick and watch the candle flicker into life with a warm golden glow. Press Place it on the path and your lantern floats down to join the others. It glows on the live map of Santa’s village for an hour, and you can visit it by pressing See it on the path. A grown-up can keep it glowing for a whole week for $0.99.

Please use your first name only, never your full name or address. Your name and lantern are kept only on this device and are not sent to us. In the summer months the sun shines at midnight and never sets, so lanterns cannot be lit. If you visit then, you will see the village in the midnight sun, and you can come back in the autumn to light your lantern.
